Yes, I got the same impression. I think he said something about searching or fishing around for products that were not worth the larger companies time, or words to that effect. Jeff Holmes said that he had been talking to a competitor the night before and was very excited about what he saw happening in the industry. Did you notice in the quarterly report that Sales & Marketing expenses actually went down, albeit a small amount. May be it is wishful thinking but it could be because things are starting to roll and they don't need to increase those expenses. I may be giving the government too much credit, but I would have thought the CDC would have alerted the industry to ensure that the means were there to respond, when they launch their campaign. Remember I had previously posted that I wondered whether QDEL had the wherewithal to respond to what I think I see coming. The Mexican plant, manufacturing hires, even a purchasing agent familier with procuring injection moldings point to the fact that they are gearing up. (Of course some hires could be replacements, I have no way of knowing.) In an earlier post I mentioned about the next two quarters being 16 mil each. I don't know what I was thinking. I want them to be 17.5 mil each, to stay on my track. H-pylori is having ripple affects throughout the World economy. Hong Kong real estate prices have been dropping. Who would want to live in such a crowded city and risk catching h-pylori, they are all leaving for the wide open spaces. I saw the same thing happening in Bangkok, I thought it was country folk heading for Issan to harvest the rice crop, happens every year. But this time it is different. I was surprised the Thais got caught in the spiral, they don't kiss on the lips and don't do stupid things like shaking hands when they meet. They do cute little wais. If, as they sometimes do, they meet a European (that includes Americans) they shake hands to be polite, but immediately wash their hands. (When I do wais,I usually hit somebody on the head with my camera.) Poor Boeing all those orders and missing parts. Quidel had that problem in the first quarter. I guess Quidel's gain was Boeing's loss. The bright spots outside the medical field are obviously going to be Pizza Hut, Dominoes, Taco Bell etc. Before I wish all Quidelers a good week-end, considering that we are on the Internet I give you this statement. "The Internet is a great way to get on the Net". -Republican presidential candidate Bob Dole. HAVE A GREAT WEEK-END.
