Yeah the Sierra's are the tips. I've been doing the Eastern Sierras lately, love the drive up Independence Valley. It's incredible. The granite in the Eastern Sierras is all broken up though. There is something about the monolithic granite on the Western side that is just incomparable.

Actually this last year I've been lucky enough to do a bunch of trips: Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon (Tuweep and Timp on the north side), Death Valley and Joshua.

I liked Zion, Tuweep and Joshua the best. Tuweep is insane if you don't have an SUV or 4WD though, 60 miles on a dirt road. I did it in a Tercel and I was questioning my sanity. But once you get there it's incomparable and there are only 10 campsites.

I'm gonna have to try Mt Hood. I hope to end up in Humboldt someday. My favorite place, beats anything:

Combination of mountains, trees and coast just can't be beat.

Went to Maui and Humboldt 2 years ago and Humboldt was the ticket. Not for everyone though. You have to like rain.
