You travel lighter than I do. My pack is usually about 45 pounds. Unless it's a quarter of an elk. Made the mistake of boning out the front quarters once and carrying the whole bundle out. I'll never do that again.

By the way, wild meat is better for you than domestic meat. There's almost no fat. You have to be careful not to overcook it.

Question for you: I saw the admonition against fires over 11,000 feet in that sign on Kearsarge Pass. Why would you pack firewood up that high?
