There it is, government nationalization of Citi (C) as expected, even as they lied through their pearly teeth and said many times no such thing was in the works.

If this is the future, we are in deep sh*t...

GM lost $84.7 million each day last year, so let's just keep shoveling money to these idiots.

___________

General Motors Corp. posted a $9.6 billion fourth-quarter loss and said it burned through $6.2 billion of cash in the last three months of 2008 as it fought the worst U.S. auto sales climate since 1982 and sought government loans to keep the century-old company running.

The nation’s biggest domestic automaker said Thursday it lost $30.9 billion for the full year and expects to state in its upcoming annual report whether its auditors believe the company remains a “going concern.” GM and its auditors must determine whether there is substantial doubt about the automaker’s ability to continue its operations. GM burned through $84.7 million a day in 2008.

Hmm, my thinking was early>

•Obama Said to Conclude Bankruptcy Is Most Likely Option for GM, Chrysler.
bloomberg.com

•Bucky said last Feb>

GM could do a bk, and I think that will be the end point, a matter of when, not if.

No way Chrysler survives, they will go first.

GM put Saab into bk last Friday.

F might be the lone member of the big 3 to stay out of bk.

As projected, one just about done, the other well overdue>

Chrysler Talks Falter;
Chapter 11 Imminent

Talks between the Treasury and lenders aimed at keeping Chrysler out of bankruptcy broke down, making it all but certain that the car maker will file for Chapter 11 protection.

Feb. 23 - Was a day of drama, and the US is looking real FUBAR.

I am not seeing an easy way out of this mess anytime soon.

I sold all of my C stock and options, and the BAC stock, kept the call leaps.

Booked enough for a new Hyundai! (Elantra)

Actually, glad to get out with a profit, these things are
starting to look terminal.

And speaking of terminal, the WSJ had a big story regarding the various ways GM could do a bk, and I think that will be the end point, a matter of when, not if.

No way Chrysler survives, they will go first.

GM put Saab into bk last Friday.

F might be the lone member of the big 3 to stay out of bk.

Makes sense, buying protection, and maybe .22 ammo is the next 'hard' currency?
