You don't understand that we might teach a college class at high school for advanced students? You don't understand that the curriculum is set by the UC's and CSU's and approved by them?

Seems to me having AP classes is the perfect approach to challenge the very advanced students, while not killing the other students. But maybe I just don't understand your point.

I don't see what is not to love about AP classes. They are truly college level. I'm not sure what could possibly be bad about them. There ARE remedial classes on college campuses, but they are not like high school AP classes and if you think AP classes have been dumbed down, then you have no conception of what an AP class is.

If you have some meaningful experience of the subject and knowledge to share, please impart it. But I'd love to know the basis for your opinions.
