Correction: "Fact-finding missions" - like to Antigua for Stanford.

Banks wasting money directly paid to them from public coffers is new and fashionable. Congressmen/women wasting money paid directly to them from the public coffers is somewhat trite and generates a collective yawn from the populace.

You know what the most amazing thing of the day was (at least to me): I heard several talking heads praising Bernanke because of his clarity, authority, blah blah blah. I guess when TTT sets the bar as low as he has and (allegedly) caused the kind of damage he caused to the markets, Bernanke sounds like Williams Jennings Bryan, regardless of the substance.
