Tito, As experienced investors know, the analysts spin the news and flip flop their stock ratings to help themselves after establishing a position. AMAT was an easy target with its large institutional holding compared to the smaller semi-equips. I agree that mutual fund selling to lock in 1997 profits was a big factor. I tried to add more Jan 2000 LEAPS today, but got a little too stingy with the limit order and did not get it filled. Will try again next week. Regarding CYMI, it may be a special situation where they sell mostly to Nikon and Canon of Japan (and ASMLF, SVGI) which may not be affected as much by the currency problem. Nikon and Canon would still have to sell their lithography equipments to other Asian chip makers though. If the slow down is real, it should affect everybody.
