So, the Iranian Republic is an evil force clinging to an evil doctrine just as Hitler was an evil force clinging to an evil doctrine. Not all Iranians agree though. Do the descenters outnumber the zealots? Are the descenters the captives of the zealots? Many Germans silently opposed Hitler, but the vast majority did not. If the leader has no vision, the good perish with the bad. Diplomacy is great between those with similar minds and compatible cultures. It probably won't work here though. The public stance is that they want to fight and put the outcome in the hands of Allah. Privately the religeous elite is likely mmore realistic. Such a bold stance will overcome the faint hearted countries and those countries too "good" or too weak to take a stern approach.
