Yougang,

Re: " Based on your process knowledge and AMD's efforts to improve K6 yields ... what is your assessment of AMD's chance to successfully solve the yield
problem near term?"

I will give you my assessment ... just realize that this is my "guess"
based on a lot of process development experience and solving process margin
problems.

If AMD did find the "root cause" in early October, then a priority lot
to verify and characterize the problem is just now coming out of the
line. If this requires a mask change, new material will not be available
for about two months (in volume). I expect that you won't see any significant
volume of K6@233mhz for another couple months.

Also, this "fire drill" has most probably delayed the work on AMD's .25um
process as all engineering resources were used to solve the K6 .35um
problems. I bet that the .25um process release has slipped by about
3 months. BTW, the ChipMerchant still doesn't have the K6@233mhz on their
price list. It will be a good sign when this is back on the list and
a better sign will be when this is truly priced at 25% below the P5MMX@233mhz.

Make It So,
Yousef
