Roadwalker, it's what I keep trying to teach the folks on this thread. There is an econ 101 principle called economies of scale that is very nifty indeed when it comes to reducing prices over time.

The weird thing to me is on the surface they seem to agree. But then you mention "solar" or "wind" energy and they go all nutty. They freak out looking for any negative, no matter how much sense it makes in any particular application.

I guess that's why this is called the "politics of energy" thread. Maybe somebody should start a "pragmatism of energy" thread. It's really getting old... the "just say no" people.

Actually in many markets it already is below the cost of grid power. It sure is fun to follow.

I listened to the Akeena Solar CC this morning and they anticipate PV power from their systems to be below 8 cents per KwHr in about 18 months.
