There are always tradeoffs. Unfortunately humanity is running out of options on many fronts.

That's true. I think sometimes I don't pay as much attention to the negatives, mostly because I haven't seen any show stoppers. All of the problems solar faces will be overcome with better tech and more scale. Those are just engineering and manufacturing problems that come with every project, but no showstoppers. The bigger problem I see for renewables are the current lack of a level playing field to compete against coal and oil. But Obama is rapidly removing the advantages oil and coal have and that will level the playing field. Then we can all happily talk about "letting the market decide the winner".
