The official revision is SIGNIFICANTLY downward....

As far as "was it expected" that's going to depend on whom you ask.

(I, for one, fully expected that the quarter's numbers were originally reported too high. But I'm sure that others did not think that....)

Kinda paints many of the more virulent opponents of the government's fiscal stimulus efforts (belated and perhaps too small as the efforts still may prove to be...) into a corner: If the economy is in a historic-magnitude free-fall such as this, the option of just sitting there sucking your thumb and *doing nothing* does not really come across as the policy a wise person would suggest....
