Obama says that idea is dead on arrival. Think about it, a tractor trailer and a moped would be taxed at the same rate. Not fair at all plus the privacy aspects of it, plus the extreme cost of metering the use. That money would be better spent on real highway improvements.

Gee, what a brilliant idea, a mileage tax... so the guy who drives a long way to work every morning will have to quit his job and find something closer to his home... why not just put up toll booths every 30 feet and make people pay tolls... hey, I know, we could install taxi meters in all our cars and a government employee could visit us once a month to read the meter... these politicians have to go...
