Here's one thing I don't get. Remember that the deficit is the difference between spending AND revenues.

Obama's total spending is going to be $3.5 trillion, about half a trillion more than last year. If the deficit is going to be $1.75 trillion, that means tax revenues are only covering half of the entire budget.

That's quite a drop in tax revenue. What am I missing here?
