[ $25+ stocks/miscellaneous ] Hi again Ray.

Since about mid-September, I've been paring the size of my positions, from both a dollar price standpoint, and the amount of leverage I've been using(I am now 0% margined). I don't intentionally pick stocks above $25, rather I like to find ones below it that will eventually rise to pass that threshold, like ELTN, for example, when I was gobbling up some at $20. I played with GEN about a month or so back, and now, I'm getting interesting in SUNW once its action stabilizes at a firmer support level, and the TA shows me that the emotional pendulum is about to swing up again. SUNW's about the peak in terms of dollar price for a stock I would aim for.

As of the past few months, I've kept my focus on the stocks below $20, like EQNX, which I picked at 10.5 and enjoyed a nice rise to 17. BROC is an interesting pick from Roger Babb--his followers seem to be able to prop the stock pretty well, and the turnaround story sounds interesting.

My focus has even reached that of the penny stock arena, in particular Q-Sound Labs, symbol QSNDF. As for Q-Sound, to me it is about as close to a sure-thing(if there ever is such a thing on Wall Street) in terms of investments. The company has locked an agreement to provide their 3D digital technology to Starkey, the US's largest hearing aid manufacturer, and the digital hearing aids are expected to roll out around February of 1998. They've been on a licensing spree, and the move to digital and 3D sound makes the company in an ideal position to capitalize on the movement. For this stock, it's literally just a case of sitting on your butt and waiting for the money to come in from the royalties.

Take a look at the BigCharts chart for QSNDF, and choose "All Data" for the time frame. You'll see that QSNDF has been treading water from 3-5 for the past 3 years. Well, their restructuring is over, and I expect this to break out past 5 within the next 8-10 months, which will then make this issue even more interesting.

I think I got sidetracked there for a moment. As for your scan, I've seen some great winners be picked from the group, but due to current time constraints, I am unable to research all, or even a part of them; I therefore only look to those symbols that I immediately recognize. I wish I could make more use of the hard work you have put in. I do, however, give special attention to the ascending triangle candidates you present me, and provide a thorough commentary whenever possible.

Regards,

Rainier
