"Scars for a lifetime"? Oh, the trauma of the economic cycle. If it deteriorates as most people expect, this is going to be a learning experience for Americans. That we are ALL subject to going through tough times. We've created a generations of pansies. Scars for a lifetime? I prefer to think of it as a lifetime's worth of eduction. If it gets bad, Americans will learn how bad it can be, why it is essential to be rugged and determined, why we must view politicians who would "give us things" (paid for with our own money) with a jaundiced eye. My children will, for the first time in their lives, know what it is to be struggling and have a health respect for being debt free. All of America is, right now, cutting back. They are blowing money on the latest iPhone or iPod. They are making do with the computers they have. Letting their cars last a little a longer than they would have. Personally, I think it is a time when Americans can learn badly needed virtues. These excesses we're giving up? Just what bin Laden wanted. When, 20 years ago, bin Laden suggested the jihad be an economic one -- not a violent one -- he couldn't have wished for anything better. It seems AQ may have its victory after all. And what is Obama doing? Acting like nothing happened. "We can all have free socialized medicine!". "Don't worry, unemployed. Daddy Obama will take care of you!". "$1.75 Trillion? That's nothing. Wait 'till you see the REST of my 'plan'".Bin Laden, had he hand-picked our president, could not have been made a better choice.
