The skyrocketing in real estate means government had been gorging in RE taxes in the past years! Now RE tanks affects government coffers.

In Brazil cities collect only two taxes: RE and service taxes (services=hair cits oil changes...) All other money they get are transfers from the state and federal giovernments.

If US follows something long these lines means a hard time for cities.
