I always liked Alice Cooper and he said he only knew 3 or 4 chord fingerings. I couldn't understand how that could be. It is apparently a lot less about fancy fingers than I thought...

I don't always know what note I'm playing except when its wrong - I usually figure it out by ear then taking a chord I know and then doing some quick adding in my head, oh yeah, that's E minor up by frets, let's see E, F, F#, G, G#, A, ah must be A minor if I play it as a bar chord there (and anything else that sounds like that but is fingered differently on other strings). I feel like a drunk reciting the alphabet backwards.
