Steve.: AAPL not "narrow minded" - VP of sales supports clones

Soup's earlier 12/97 MacWorld post linked to the full interview with AAPL's VP Phil Schiller , but PS answered :

<< G: If portables are important to having a viable platform, isn't licensing Mac portables also critical?

PS: I am 100 percent in support of licensing portables to our clone makers, for a couple reasons:

First, customers are asking for it.
Second, it helps create more variety, availability, and competition.

I think the only issue is timing. Specifically, we need to extract control of power management. We don't want to create a scenario where different companies have different power-management schemes and it doesn't all work properly. >>

Maybe AAPL clones adhering to licensed specs ? Mr PS also referred to a Arthur G3 motherboard .

Is there a 2nd board coming Nov. 10, 1997 in addition to Gossamer ?
