Doug, what you say is quite true, but who among us has an infallable crystal ball. When you invest in a company like Dell you are investing in growth, not value. You are betting on the come, and you are betting on the long-term growth of this company. I believe that Dell will grow at a faster pace than the rest of the PC market as second and third tier players continue to be squeezed out.

I read somewhere that greater computer speeds and storage spawn software that tends to use maximum computer capabilities which leads to a round of hardware upgrades. So far we haven't seen these killer applications emerge, (I believe that Intel reported less demand for Pentium II chips than anticipated) but when they do they will lead to an accelerated demand for high-end machines. If this is true, what we are experiencing right now may well be the flat part of the demand curve.

Regards,

Paul
