<Picture>Drilling Goes Ahead on One of World's Largest Kimberlites

Drilling is proceeding at Camatchia, the world's tenth-largest known diamond-bearing kimberlite and the largest of five pipes identified on the DiamondWorks' Luo concession in north-east Angola. Five holes were drilled recently to confirm the pipe's eastern boundary, all of which intersected kimberlite at the surface and the deepest of which was stopped in kimberlite 108 metres deep. Twenty-one drill holes are planned, and samples will be sent to South Africa to be tested for micro and macro diamonds. Exploration and evaluation work at Camatchia in the early 1970s showed a surface area of 27.9 hectares, and probable and drill-indicated diamond reserves and resources of 13 million carats. Diamang, a consortium which had De Beers as a technical advisor, reported at the time that about half of 10,600 diamonds recovered from its test work on Camatchia were gem quality.

Our day on this one will come!!!!!!! Bob
