It isn't that so much as he has to put ideology ahead of everything. It fits his ideology to blame a recession on the Democrats for talking the economy down. And the only way to do that is to pretend that everything was fine in 2007 and things didn't sour until 2008H2. Or that a huge chunk of the projected deficit is not a consequence of republican rule...the trouble with the country began when Obama started campaigning for the dem nomination, on widespread fear that he might actually ascend to power.
