It has nothing to do with the war in Iraq. What's going on in A. & P. is precisely as bin Laden, et. al., predicted in the early 90s when AQ was organizing in the Sudan. You do not have to defeat the Americans militarily, you just have to increase the body count and they'll cave. They see they have a weak American president to deal with. Kill more Americans, he'll bail. They know that. They saw it in Vietnam. But they REALLY noticed Mogadishu. When Clinton pulled out of there, bin Laden went right back to the camps in Sudan and said, "See. I told you so." It was perfect. And it was a lesson they'll never, ever forget.
