"Okay, economic growth was slowing, we agree about that. "

Correct. And the things that were slowing the most meant that a recession was in the cards, and soon.

"It had not slowed to the point where economists generally agreed there was a recession -- we had not had economic contraction for one quarter, let alone two."

So? It was obvious where it was going. Consumer confidence was down. Investments were down. Inventories were rising. That doesn't get turned around in a quarter or two. It just gets worse.

"The fact is that at the time Obama and the rest of you on the Left started claiming there is a recession, there wasn't. "

Get a grip. While it technically might not have been true, I haven't dug up the adjusted figures for 2007Q4, a recession was coming.
