Another similar factor was the Gini coefficient was also high. It would be interesting to plot the Gini vs. debt load. I suspect they are strongly correlated. That would be an interesting chart... especially if you added in the DOW. Household debt and income inequality, I'm not sure if there is a cause effect in there. Probably on a trend basis. But those two measures are sure a measure of national wealth. And we know national wealth is declining at an alarming rate.
