KT,

The size of the federal budget is a reflection of what those in charge of the government as a group are willing to tax and borrow. At the senate and congressional level, at a minimum, everyone is going to fight for a return of their federal dollars to their own states, counties etc... because that is their job.

No one in their right mind is going to allow the federal government to tax their constituency and not fight back for at least equal dollars.

What Paul would like is for there to be no borrowing and lower federal taxes so his constituency could decide for itself what to spend its own money on. Then guys like him would not have to spend the money in ways the dictators want and others wouldn't be in a position to transfer wealth to themselves or waste it.

You can be for an overhaul of the system that you have the misfortune to have to participate in.
