Well I have little feel for the need of personal protection is probably why. But, the 00 buckshot was in my side dresser and the shotgun was 10 steps away in the other room and we would have been rocking and rolling. Today the shotgun sits in the corner of my bedroom on the way to the door loaded and ready to get busy. When grandchildren are over they aren't allowed on the second floor and I lock the bedroom door. None of them are old enough yet to break in so we will do something different when they are teen rats:)

I leave my action open so I can jack the shell in as I come out of my bedroom onto the upstairs landing. Being a sound nobody will mistake for something else is sometimes all the motivation a crook needs to leave. The slide on a semi auto handgun would have the same affect as you ran home a live round.
