>>did i ever run into you in the 80's?

i started going audiophile crazy in the late 70s and must have visited every shop in the city; even those in brooklyn and queens<<

Paul -

It's possible. I worked at Audio Exchange in Greenwich Village for a couple of years, starting in 84. Not Stereo Exchange, mind you, which was started by a guy who had previously worked at Audio Exchange.

We were on 8th Street, slightly below street level. A teeny tiny store.

I also worked in their downtown location for a while, on Park Place. Just two blocks up from the WTC.

The stores carried used gear, as well as new. There really wasn't that much higher end stuff in the joint, apart from McIntosh. I believe we were the first in Manhattan to carry Paradigm speakers, but in those days their most expensive model was about 800 a pair. They were very, very good for that price, but nothing like what the company is producing now. We also carried Kef and M&K.
