<<That puts NSCP at a disadvantage. MSFT has the platform, via their OS, to put anything they want to onto the desktop.>> One of the problems I have with the whole Justice Dept. investigation is that it's an insult to most computer users intelligence. The last Windows system I bought had IE on the desk top and not Navigator. I d/led Navigator and dumped IE. The JD obviously doesn't think that computer users have sense enough to get there without their help. It's one of the few times if not the first time where a company has been moved on BEFORE the monopoly has even been established. I don't necessarily disagree with their decision entirely but I can't help thinking that there is something behind all the smoke. MSFT having an amazing OS market share is an exercise in hypocrisy. AT&T was moved on because they owned all the means of distribution i.e. the hard copper lines, long distance, local service etc. For Microsoft to be looked upon in this light they would have to own or control the major components of a PC such as the CPU, monitor, motherboard, memory, disk drives etc. They own a large percentage of a small percentage of what makes up a PC. That's the big diff. <<It's also telling that MSFT gives their browser away for free, yet has not overtaken NSCP. I use both browsers and find that there are many nice aspects to both, giving IE4 a leg up. But, I use NSCP as my default.>> Well, many would probably swear I am an exclusive MSFT junkie but nothing could be farther from the truth. I haven't caught up to IE4 because of what I get from NN3. This attitude is the same attitude that has hindered the majority of IBM users from crossing over to Apple. Personal opinion...Explorer has never been able to carry Navigator's water although I am not impressed with Communicator. <<OFF TOPIC- GO BLUE!! U of M on the way to the ROSE BOWL/NATL CMPS.>> OK, I will give you this one! LOL! Besides I have never been partial to Stanford even though it's near by. Loved today's headlines "No roses for Stanford!"
