Thanks for three great articles.

These bring up several really important issues, most notably, does EMR REALLY lead to better, cheaper medical care. While the jury may be out, the Obama argument that adoption of EMR will save billions is obviously subject to some pretty serious doubts.

While I have no doubt EMR in an individual office can improve efficiency, the idea of this huge national database is another matter. Even once it is done it is unclear that the advantages outweigh the costs.

In particular, such a database has great potential for harm if incorrect data are inadvertently entered into the system, which could happen. And one can already envision reports of "five million health care patient's data stolen on a laptop".
