You really aren't understanding where the problems are and are not. The number of phone calls you mention above is less than trivial.

Almost all lab results are now transmitted electronically. In general, labs actually pay for the hardware to install in the provider's office.

Billing information comes from the patient's insurance card. Which he/she will still be required to present each and every time he visits a provider.

You're talking about data mining? Are you serious?

This isn't about Harrahs trying to get you into their latest casino. We're talking about the MOST PRIVATE of information any human possesses. NOBODY has talked about "Data Mining" nor would they.

It is clear to me that you aren't understanding the issues at all. And you are totally jumping to conclusions about savings. Not saying there couldn't be any, but there is no evidence to suggest savings in the range of what is being tossed around.
