I know. But we must try. Start at the local level. I am joining the county Republicans where I am and will work hard.

I live in a small town that's mostly Republican if the city council is any indication. The town is also a magnet for cops and firefighters to raise their families - 4 firemen and 3 cop families on my block alone. They all work in other nearby cities. We're a small enough place that everyone knows who everyone else is. There's only 3 grammar schools, 1 middle school and 1 high school.

I saw a discussion on another thread about the Bubba Effect - all these guys ARE the Bubbas.

Was talking to my next door neighbor, who's a cop. They are very aware of and are closely following what's happening - particularly the increase in arms and ammo purchases. They are concerned that there's more guns on the street but more concerned about who's doing the buying. We don't have gangs here but they are flourishing in nearby communities.

This town will be a very well-organized bunch of Bubbas should it ever come to that, but I don't think that will ever happen - at least not here.
