Winning elections involves winning people to your ideas, or making the other side something they can't vote for, so they either vote for you or don't vote at all. Some people seem so stunned by Obama's win last year but he did both things pretty well (according to the polls). The republicans can't do either effectively right now. Every day that Limbaugh is seen as the leader of the party is a day the democrats pick up steam. I am not sure Rush doesn't think he is Pope, as well as many other roles. He does have "talent on loan from God" (another phrase the democrats will just love to use to describe him if he demands to be taken seriously on policy). It's hardly pettiness if it matters to people who vote. AS for Palin, she is unelectable. Period. Former vice-presidential candidates for losing tickets don't become president. She and her husband have huge baggage and the people that will sink her won't be democrats, it will be her fellow republicans...in the primaries in 2011
