It's a good question and hard to quantify. I'll tell you that all you have to do is fly into Dallas or into Silicon Valley and breathe in those noxious brown fumes that are visible across the city and you'll wonder how many billions are we spending on health care that may not be necessary if they weren't polluting.

All of that aside, I think there are more direct costs associated with the support of the oil industry that are not being priced into oil, such as war and military security for oil supplies. I know you don't agree with that, but it's a fact that we would not spend as much on war and military security for oil, if we didn't use oil. I think those costs should be paid for by the oil industry, not by you and me. So let's tax them for that cost.
