If i had balls i would buy a vacation home but the fear of losing more money this year, this time on real estate unnerves me. If someone could call a housing bottom in vacation locations i would be there. Right now prices plummetting in and around NYC. An apartment that sold for 16mm just went for 3mm. Last year owner turned down 14mm, holding out for better price. When prices break here in NYC, they break. Another bubble hits the dust.

Where are you thinking of buying a second home? Typically, vacation homes are the last to recover.
