Have a house rented on outer banks (corolla) for a week this summer. I would like a place with a reasonable climate that i could go to in winter and work from house as i do here. One of my favorite places is the Smokey mountains on the NC/TN border. I loved gatlinburg--as hick a town you can find but one that this city slicker loved.

I liked Ashville, NC in the foothills of the mts. Big enough to have something going but still sort of quaint.
