Larry, shorts come in when companies don't deliver their "story". They serve a very useful function like vultures that clean up carrion before it becomes a health hazard. IPM has been BDing us for a year, a riches promise that sounds too good to be true, and delayed reports, that's the story. It's no surprise that shorts work to "clean" the market while making a profit. While they do a useful function there is a disgusting aspect to their methods, both shorts and vultures. While longs like to target them for the pressure on the stock, they come only whey the fundamentals look ill. That condition is company induced or a unexpected event. Nature is very clear about survival of the fittest. Longs can easily counter the shorts by buying stock. When stock goes down, more people are interested in selling than buying. The excuse of blaming shorts is weak IMO. Want to do something about them? Buy the stock.
