This should have not come as a surprise to anyone. Anyone who thought Obama was simply going to "roll back the Bush tax cuts" is fooling himself.

Totally agree.

But what is the goal? What percentage of people do they want to be "living off of" the remainder? Do they want 60% of people paying ZERO tax and the other 40% paying all the income taxes, unemployment benefits, health care, all of it?

Or do they want 70/30?

I mean at some point the system just breaks down.

A rational person looking at the $50-60 Trillion in debt we now have and looking at the spending they're doing just cannot reconcile it.

IT IS AS THOUGH OBAMA HAS SET AS A GOAL BRINGING AMERICA TO ITS KNEES ECONOMICALLY.

where does the 7.5 number come from? Are you talking fica and medicare tax? Fica now goes up to 100k or so so they are resuming fica once at 200k per individual.

The taxes have to be a bit higher than they were under Clinton because the country was starved of revenue under Bush. Gotta make up for it.

Also, we have to jumpstart the economy. It takes money.
