<<Tell you friend the empire can do without him>>

as he, at young 60, cares for his new trophy russian beauty queen wife, commuting between his new zealand winery and big hong kong house, supplicated to by folks far and near, he will merely bid the empire well, knowing its fate is already fated.

<<BTW what do you think of the new China stimulis? Will it work? your opinion of the china econ, mkt in the coming year, FXI?>>

- i think the china authorities take the crisis far more seriously than almost all others, is just slightly ahead of the curve in proactive action as opposed to europe and america miles and kilometers behind in reactive countermeasures

- i think they will print, print, and print again until the save works, and until the standard-of-living water on both sides of the euro:rmb and usd:rmb and yen:rmb dam are at level

- it better work, for all concerned, and of course will work, because for china, the crisis is simpler than for usa/europe, in nature (cyclic vs systemic) and magnitude (recession vs depression), and the outcome of intervention will be gentler (equalization of standard of living vs hyper inflationary stagnation), affecting domestic population differently (enlarging the middle class vs devastating the middle class), etc etc etc

- i could be wrong, easily, but am enthusiastic to see if my take is the correct read.

fxi in 2009? should be higher at yearend, but maybe not if measured in gold.

hello pezz, today's report:

(i) yes, of course, bought more physical gold, naturally, because today is friday, lunch with the boyz, and i always buy physical after lunch with the boyz.

before doing so, i accompanied one money manager and a lawyer to buy physical bars from the local dealer that deals in 5 tael (1 tael = 1.2 troy oz) bars. they bought six and cleaned out the dealer for the day. they will visit again.

when at the bank dealing in australian gold nugget bullion, conversed with korean lady at the next counter waiting for her gold. she was there at her husband's wish. he is a banker; figures. she has been showing up everyday for daily allotment and did not look happy about the task. just following orders.

(ii) while at lunch, i learned that my college buddy and frat bro, now chief investment officer of the asian arm of major euro insurance and fund group, got his subscription to wall street journal cancelled. the company cancelled all wsj subscriptions to save cost. now they only get financial times. a better newspaper anyway, because it is not american.

he also related that the usual annual conference where each branch sends 12+ folks to attend has been cut the 3 folks per branch. times must be tough.

(iii) made arrangement to get measured for the very latest in hyper stagflationary diaper depression attire, the MIGUEL CABALLERO alibaba.com armani look-and-feel but III-A armor protection vest and leather pilot jacket - "The highest blunt trauma protection rating in soft body armor. The best for very high-risk situations to cover more of the uncommon or unusual threats."

III-A is good enough for ...
9 mm FMJ at ~1,400 fps
(~427 mps)
(e.g., sub-machine-gun velocity)

.44 Magnum Lead Semi-Wadcutter at ~1,400 fps
(~427 mps).

the company is columbian, and so it should know what it is doing.

the selling points are supposedly as follows, by incoming e-mail from pal, " ... The jackets aren’t cheap. “Who cares about dressing to kill? I was dressed to live.”. As the haute couture brand of armored garments, Miguel Caballero is well-known for his super tough but flexible clothing in business or casual attire, which is made-to-measure with thin and light-weighted, thermo-regulating materials with state-of-the-art design and finishing, handcrafted by a team of experienced top designers and tailors…."

cheers, tj

p.s. btw, we are well along this script, and the abyss cannot be too far away now - i see things and hear voices :0)

Do not know about economics, but here are some upcoming news headlines. The order and specific company names are not important. Say 18-24 months. If we do not believe that at least 25% of the headlines will come to pass within the next 18-24 months (time determined by recklessness of Maestro), we should start to accumulate stocks now, looking pass the valley of gloom.
The sooner we see some of these headlines, the sooner we can get back to buying "for the long term".

hello pezz, today's report:

(i) could not help it, even though it is saturday, and bought more coins, this time of the usa eagle variety, figuring it should get some in the newly available again cute plastic tube container.

the funds used was what i lugged to the bank coin cash counting room, in wheelie luggage, of coconut's coin savings. she has been a voracious saver, not yet on allowance, but allowed to scanvenge from maternal and paternal grandparents' place and vacuum up excess coins from our household starting at age 2, day after night after day, weeks in and months out, as well as aggregate all the red packets directed at her from great chinese cultural tradition of giving such packets by relations and friends, near and far, for a whole lot of occasions.

(ii) could help it but didn't bother to, got measured for a navy blue sleeveless vest and a leather jacket, rated for proof against sub-machine gun fire, fire storm, water deluge, and, interestingly and more pratically, knife. delivery in a few weeks. the team that did the measuring had just done so for a few political leaders in the region. events must be turning worse than dire.

miguel info-ed that his biggest sales by unit and revenue is nearer you than i, in soon-enough-to-completely-fail mexico, beating out sales in his home country columbia.

elsewhere folks buy canned food and guns for necessity. we on freedom isle hong kong talk canned food for fun, and acquire bullet-proof vest for cocktail topic. nothing more, because, for a few hundred per month, we can easily hire usa-trained ex-commandos from the philippines, and employ uk-educated ex-rangers (gurkhas) from nepal. the gurkhas are very good and can kill using a plastic credit card and maim with a paper plate.

(iii) had three hours lunch with friends at the mandarin, talking doom, gloom, water rights, gold, platinum, farming, merit of hong kong refuge vs new zealand sanctuary, and the whereto's of america against the wherefrom's of china. all delicious, including the japanese lunch.

cheers, tj
