"Oh, I can't wait to see how you portray this obvious distraction by the DNC ..."

Sigh. Yeah, I see where the RNC is playing up the distraction angle. No surprise you have latched onto it.

This 'distraction' is about politics. No matter the situation, there will always be politics. We just came off of an administration who played the hardest of hard ball politics of the most divisive kind, you are daft if you think the Democrats are going to drop their guard this quickly.

Rove does this sort of stuff all the time. I don't remember you complaining about the 'distraction' then.

Because it isn't really a 'distraction' as much as an attempt to shape the perception of the other side. Usually, the Democrats are pretty bad at this. The Republican instinct for marching in lock step means they usually do a better job. The speed that certain memes propagate throughout the Republicans and their talking heads is truly amazing. The Democrats usually can't do that.

Personally, I'd prefer if this sort of thing wasn't so pervasive in politics. But, the reality is that it is. Because it works. The Democrats saw an opportunity to do it and went for it.
