I caught Geithner in a long interview with Jim Leher last week.

He struck me as smart... but in the quant sense... that is... knows the numbers forward and backward... but seems to lacks a sense of what they truly mean. His bedside manner is not reassuring... shifts, doesn't sit up straight, seems hyper, bad tie, talks too fast at times, can't explain the issues in a reassuring manner. Not a con man, but I'm not sure I'd trust him with my money. If I'm gonna get taken at least I want to be taken by a smooth operator. Hire him? Not for a top job - might be a good #2.

Fire him? Let's wait a bit and see if he gets his act together. But if after six months... well... Lincoln fired a bunch of Generals before he found one who produced results. Obama may have to the same with his financial generals.
