To all re: Comp USA visit.

Comp USA in the Chicago area has a BIG grand opening sale this weekend. I visited about 10 am yesterday to find the store packed to the gills; 15-20 people at least (no lie) waiting in line at every register to check out. They had some amazing deals. I went back this morning for the "early-bird" specials. One hour before the store opened the line to get in was wrapped around the building (over 100 people easy).

Anyway, there were a lot of Zips in stock. There was a hugh display with 50 or more Zips available. In the time I was there there were very few people even looking at the display let alone buying. I don't know whether it was bacause:
* they were selling for $149 with no special of any kind
* the other sale items (hard drives, modems, printers etc.) were such good deals that people were spending $$$ there instead
* simply no interest in the product

IMHO they were almost giving away hard drives. Maxtor 3.5G for less than $150 after rebates. The Zip loses its appeal as simply a hard drive expansion with hard drives priced this low BUT the ZIP is portable storage too. (Oh BTW...there were two Syjunks and one shark in stock, whick appeared to be all the shelf space they alloted for these items anyway)

Just thought I'd pass the info along. Still long IOM.

Good Luck
