>>>By the way, are you posting on AOL? I've been looking, but can't find anything much there.<<<

I sure am...I go by "Absent One" over there. Style Pts got banned for life from the Fool, last summer. ;o) I've just been trying to keep them all informed and have been cross-referencing info back and forth between this thread and the Fool board at AOL. The link to the Fortune article came from someone at the Fool.

Does anyone know of a web site that provides implied volatility for various stocks? If not, how else can I calculate/obtain this?

Gary, sorry to hear about your insomnia. You could always give up the stock market, but that would take the fun out of things. I'm still studying Ascend, trying to figure out if we are at a bottom. It's just a hunch, but I think there's more downside. Briefing.com had a paragraph in their tech stock section that was interesting. They stated that most feel the recent downturn was a temporary effect based upon Asian events. But briefing.com felt that it went deeper than that. They felt that recent earnings concerns and high valuations were more the cause than Asian events. The semiconductors were the first and hardest hit, but the effect may spread out.

On the other hand, open interest for Dow options points to 8000. I give up.
