Gabelli is redeeming a chunk of its series D preferred on Gabelli Equity. That makes the fund less leveraged. They are also showing the flag to preferred holders that they will not be abandoned during a bear market. It also keeps that AAA rating intact. si.advfn.com

Gab is also redeeming $62 million of auction preferred stock.
