BTW, folks on this thread don't believe you if you say you are a Republican. They believe that all GOP members must think EXACTLY like them or they must be liberals. Somehow the GOP has become a small tent, goose stepping party of ideologically bent individuals. So much for flexible thinking and inclusiveness. It's been disheartening to see the fall of the GOP. I watch who they have been picking for their leaders and it amazes me at the lack of depth to their thinking. They picked Palin because she was a woman and they thought she'd prove that the GOP is a progressive party. However, Palin was a ninny. They didn't think that it would be important to pick a qualified GOP woman, not a ninny. They picked Jindal, because he's an Indian, thinking that this would show how open to foreign immigrant families they are. At least Jindal's smart and qualified, although his speech after Obama wasn't that good. They picked Steele because he was a black man and they thought he could compete with Obama. Steele's turning out to be a little wacky and erratic. Never mind that people voted for Obama not because he was black, but because he is incredibly intelligent, accomplished, unflappable and calm in a storm, and has the right ideas on energy, foreign policy, and the economy. It's like the GOP makes moves that seem politically savvy on the surface, but their execution is so profoundly off the mark and corrupt underneath the facade. What's wrong with them? This is not the party I grew up with and respected. My best advice to them is pick smart, qualified leaders and stop worrying so much about whether they are male or female, black or white, Jewish or Christian, 1st generation American or 10th. That's not the point in today's world. Quality and innovation is the point in today's world. That is why they are losing the young people today. My whole family is Republican. All my sisters and brothers, cousins, aunts and uncles, mom, and dad, are Republican. My kids are Democrats and they voted for Obama. It's quite possible I may not have voted for Obama if I had not listened to my kids enthusiasm for him. The GOP needs to WAKE UP! They are losing a generation.
