Try to consider vehicles whose models have been made in very high unit volumes over a period of at least 3 years so parts will be easily available.

That criteria will eliminate Land Rover, and possibly Porsche.

It should leave the low end BMW and the Lexus / Toyota.

I once worked with someone who had a standard, popular model Volvo. His car was in the shop for 3 weeks - all of it spent waiting for a U-joint - not the most exotic part in a car, and subject to replacement about every 100 k miles.

With the coming worldwide economic difficulties, it is easy to imagine a Porsche parts supplier or dealer either going BK or cutting inventory to zero.

TJ, do you live in that Mansion way high up on the mountain overlooking HK harbor, Kowloon, etc, the one where they filmed "Soldier of Fortune" with Clark Gable, Susan Hayward back in the 1950's or early 1960's...AWESOME

Your MiniCooper is still a baby...

IMO you will need a Hummer, full size, in the next several months...

Consider a used military type Hummer (bullet proofed) they are now coming on the market from Iraq...

You would be awesome with your new Designer BPvest, Designer BPjacket, small arms, family in Kimonos and all in the family Hummer winding down that small mountain switch back road heading out to the Dairy Queen for an afternoon of enjoyment among the hordes of the unwashed masses...

regards

This is what you need for the ground. It's armored, of course.
