Arthur, I'm willing to take a stab at it. I will estimate that 3-Q ending 10/31/97
earnings for AMES will come in at $0.07/share vs the $0.02 rer share reported a year earlier. The generally fair weather in the Northeast this past quarter, along with the death of Princess Diana may have altered people's shopping patterns a bit this quarter. Still, a 3+ X increase in quarter to quarter EPS is a sure sign of progress. I will still go out on a limb and say that Christmas sales will be 5-10% above the levels of last year, and should that prove to be the case I can see AMES earning $1.30 - $1.40 per share for the entire year.
All the best,
MT
