Brumar.. There is NOTHING available to stop these bear raids when they are using CDS contracts to make any new debt offerings, or securitization of debt, appear suspect. The spreads are CDS contracts are incredible and some people opine, unsustainable. But they have made the cost of buying "protection" against defaulting debt so high that it just doesn't make sense to lend money.
