another bit of coverage at sjmercury.com
"To reverse the company's fortunes,
McCracken is expected to consider divesting various business units -- including the MIPS chip division
and the company's applications software subsidiary -- or finding an acquisition partner willing to take
over the company in its entirety."

does MIPS stand in the way of a total intel commitment? is A/W a remanent from the days when SGI was involved in high performance graphics? would the aquisition of SGI by Compaq be classified as a remarrige? will the Paradigm aquisition save SGI by putting virtual worlds into wristwatches and calculators?

Looks like the same article. Any company purchasing SGI would probably divest itself of Cray. If Cray is sold possibily Sun as a suitor?
