So you turned anti-Bush a few days after 911. Hmm.

It took me longer. I was a rabid Bush fan pretty much through the end of 2003, but his unending litany of mistakes and lost opportunities, plus if fiscal profligacy and budgetary obfuscation really turned me off. That was compounded by the fact that I did a lot of traveling back then and saw many many KIDS going off to war...kids just a couple years older than my own, which reminded me that war is an old man's game played out by kids in the field. That was what ultimately turned me off. That's when I started reading and researching and not taking what the GOP told me for granted. That's when I stopped watching Fox News exclusively and started getting my news from all sources. That's when I finally opened my eyes and realized the GOP of today was just a party with bankrupt suits and inflexible ideology that was destroying our country. For me it was a journey, not an overnight decision. It took me years to overturn what I'd believe in for decades.
